Samsung Leads In LCD TV Sales
According to this report Samsung outsells Sony in LCD TV sales worldwide!
Samsung leads in LCD TV sales worldwide - and in SA According to a report by internationally affiliated research corporation, Displaysearch, electronics giant Samsung has come out on top in the LCD TV market share stakes, controlling 20,4% market share and selling 4 837m units in the second quarter of 2008. Samsung was followed by Sony which took up 13% and selling 3 069m units, LG with 10% and 2 357m units, Philips with 9,4% or 2 214m units and Sharp with 9,4% or 2 053m units. This translates to one out of five LCD TV screens sold around the world being a Samsung product. In Suth Africa, that’s closer to one out of four, with a 24,1% market share for Samsung.

I have had this tv for 3 weeks and its been awesome. The colors are vivid, the sound is crisp and the use of the new style remote is simplistic. I bought this so that my wife and I could have a workout "partner" while we exercised - this Samsung 26" HDTV has definitely "fit" the bill! Perfect size for hanging in our basement. Surprisingly good picture quality and light enough to easily install on a swivel wall mount system. Outstanding value for the price. I have it hooked up to DirecTV and notice no blurry or pixelation on sports programming whatsoever. I would disgreard knee jerk negative reviews of this product. This is my 3rd Samsung and have not had one bad experience yet.

The Philips 42TA648BX television has a resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It has the highest HD resolution of all available sources, which provides the best possible image. Blu-ray movies, playing the Xbox 360 or Sony PS3 all are better when watching on this TV/ A recent testimonial I found stated, “I own this TV, and I must say I do not regret the purchase. This is high rated overall, and it has a great Standard Definition picture and an excellent High Definition Picture. Along with the number of ports, I did not regret getting this TV at all. I paid $1000 + tax at walmart”.

30 Percent Price Drop On LCD TV's in 2008

We all know that the cost of LCD TVs is coming down but according to DisplaySearch, Europe led the way with prices dropping 30% in the past 12 months. In its annual look at global pricing of LCD and plasma TVs, the biggest drops in e-tail and Net-based LCD TV prices were in Europe, followed by China, North America and Japan, down 20%, 16% and 4%, respectively. The price of plasma tellies fell 27% year-on-year to September 2008 while older CRT TV prices actually rose by 4%.
