Google, Sony and Tivo Develop Smart Televisions

Google, Sony, Tivo Form Crusading Supergroup For Smart Televisions

It's like the Justice League of Technology: Google, Sony, TiVo, Mitsubishi, Best Buy and two lesser-known companies (NagraVision and SageTV - Think of them as the Martian Manhunter and Aquaman of the team) have joined together to support the Federal Communication Commission's AllVid proposal, calling themselves the AllVid Tech Company Alliance.

AllVid is a proposed device that would act as a "gateway" adapter allowing all types of pay TV content - whether it's cable or satellite TV, internet TV or IPTV - to be viewable on the same device, without new technology forcing consumers to have to upgrade their equipment. Initially proposed almost a year ago, the subject was greeted with less than enthusiasm from cable companies and content creators, with the Motion Picture Association of America criticizing it as potential promoter of pirated material.

Will the FCC rise to the occasion? Will content creation companies cry foul, and point out this is another front in the ongoing war over platform consolidation? And most importantly, will the AllVid Tech Company Alliance really turn out to be a Justice League, or a Legion of Doom for consumers?

New Sony Bravia Televisions Available With 500 Gig Hard Drives

Sony Bravia Televisions Set To Come With 500 Gig Hard Drives

the new lineup of Sony Bravia televisions packing a 500 gig hard drive.

sony bravia

It’s not just the storage, either–it’s the sheer utility that makes this set of Sony Bravias worth looking at. You’ll not only have the internal 500 gig drive, but you’ll also be able to transfer data both to and from external hard drives, extending your storage capacity to theoretical infinity…or the limits of your wallet, at any rate. That 500 gig, meanwhile, is set to give you fully 65 hours of high-definition recording.

It’s a pretty solid idea, mounting internal DVR technology to a television, and chances are we’ll likely see more televisions capable of storing their own programming the farther we get down the trail. Though I don’t look for too many early adopters at those prices, especially given what DVRs and external hard drives are currently selling for.

Panasonic also showed its flagship plasma range the VT30, first introduced at CES this 3D set is billed by a Panasonic spokesman as ‘the best TV we’ve ever built.’ Panasonic televisions have arguably never been as stylish and LG or Samsung rivals, but the company looks to change this with its High Line Design, her construction from a single piece of glass enables a wafer thin design.

There's no news on pricing yet, but the DT30 and VT30 are out in May/June, find out more from Panasonic.

Sony NSX-40GT1 (Google TV) Review

Advantages over other products is its integration tar Television with google TV, enabling us to easily access the Chrome browser that supports Flash and video HTML5; included RF remote QWERTY; built-in Wi-Fi, the user interface layer for the content of TV cable / satellite box ; can control the TV, AV receiver, and cable / satellite box with an external IR emitter; Android Market with one face to face. Including better color performance, sleek design, and there are power-saving features.

The downside there is the black light level is quite disturbing and several times appeared shadow flicker. Less comfortable touchpad, and the size of a remote that is not comfortable in the hand. Rare analog connectivity, limited application at launch and a bug in the software

This TV is one of the easiest TV to be connected to the internet series is also known to make our life always follow the growth of Google TV and is also a very amazing picture quality

The difference this series than the two other Google products Tv, namely Logitech Reveu and also of the same type, namely SONY bluray NSZ-GT1 is the integration. By simply connecting to the internet, google TV with all the facilities already exist in front of you. Remotenya Although sometimes difficult, but still better than the Logitech.

Viewed from the front of internet TV is reminiscent of a giant iPhone. With a clean appearance, where there is only the Sony logo and an array of LED indicators.

Sony's unique metal stand may look precarious but supported our thin, 46-inch review sample well enough. The panel's 2.3-inch depth out-chunks LED-based sets like the 1.2-inch Samsung UNC6500, but we're guessing that extra inch better accommodates the Google TV hardware packed inside. Overall, we don't like the NSX-GT1 series' look as much as that of Sony's high-end "Monolithic"-styled TVs, like the KDL-NX800 series, but it's still plenty slick for both standard and atypical TV rooms, like the kitchen or bedroom.
